SALAMEX Oral Rehydration Salts

For some 25 years, a product regularly found in pharmacies around the UK has been recognised as an effective source of relief from the effects of dehydration. Causes of dehydration can be terrifyingly common: diarrhoea, vomiting, sunstroke (excess sun), alcohol (excess drinking resulting in a hangover) - even honest physical exercise! Glucose-based Oral rehydration salts certainly proved effective in counteracting the unwelcome symptoms of dehydration. However, when given to children, disadvantages (such as no reduction of stool output and no reduction of vomiting incidence) were still a concern and a new formulation needed to be found.

The result is Salamex® O.R.S - oral rehydration salts brought to you in the form of easy to prepare and simple to take effervescent tablets.
Salamex

The product has been improved to provide users of all ages with significant benefit by ensuring that it can be easily prepared, is pleasantly-flavoured and correctly balanced in its ingredients, promoting safe relief from the symptoms of dehydration. What's more, any of this product remaining unused can be discarded without risk of harm to our environment. We firmly believe these factors give it a distinctive edge over similar products in the marketplace. Ingested slowly (advised), it can really help to restore body fluids to their normal levels. Importantly, this applies to any age group, but can be viewed to be particularly useful for the very young and the elderly. In terms of the needs of elderly individuals, The British Medical Journal in a recent article (BMJ July 2nd 2009) highlighted:

“Thirst and the capacity to conserve salt and water reduce with age and are the most important additional risk factors."6

Whilst Salamex® O.R.S. can aid recovery from dehydration as a result of an illness, it can also be taken to support recovery and rehydration from too much sun, alcohol or even exercise! In fact, at any time when you suspect you are a little dehydrated. It is a lemon-flavoured effervescent tablet that dissolves quickly and completely (no need to tear open sachets or stir) and is easy on the taste-buds. You can even make lemon tea with it.

The cosmetic advantages of taste and the speed at which the tablets dissolve are not the only plus points. There are also improvements in the product's formulation to help reduce stool output and incidence of vomiting.
